About the Conference
The Department of Economic Sciences at the
Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur will organize its Research Scholars' Day 2026 from February 13-14, 2026.
The event aims to provide a vibrant platform for research scholars to showcase their ongoing work, exchange ideas, and receive constructive feedback from faculty members and peers.
It brings together scholars working in various areas of economics—from theoretical and empirical research to policy-related studies—fostering a better understanding of current economic issues.
We welcome you to attend the conference, and present your research.
Keynote Speakers
We are pleased to host Prof. Tarun Jain (IIM Ahmedabad) and Prof. Mausumi Das (Delhi School of Economics) as keynote speakers for the event.
Pre-Conference Workshop
The conference will feature a pre-conference workshop on "Remote Sensing Data for Economists", on the evening of February 12, 2026.

About the Department of Economic Sciences
The Department of Economic Sciences at IIT Kanpur offers a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment for teaching and research.
The department brings together scholars with diverse interests spanning both foundational and applied areas of economics.
Apart from having strength in traditional areas like microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics; the department has expertise in financial, development economics, agricultural economics, optimization theory, political economy as well as Bayesian econometrics.
The department actively fosters interdisciplinary research, encourages collaboration across disciplines, and strives to contribute meaningfully to contemporary policy discussions and economic understanding.

Pre-Conference Workshop
The Research Scholars' Day 2026 will feature a 90-minute pre-conference workshop on “Remote Sensing Data for Economists”, scheduled for the evening of 12 February 2026, to be led by Dr. Anna Thottappilly.
Dr. Thottappilly is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economic Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
She obtained her PhD in Applied Economics & Management from Cornell University in 2023. A development economist by training,
her work spans agriculture, nutrition and climate change: in particular she explores how climate-change-related factors (such as elevated atmospheric CO₂) affect agricultural yields and thus future nutrition security,
and investigates Indian agricultural markets to design nutrition-sensitive interventions.
Submission Guidelines
Authors are invited to submit their research papers for presentation at the conference. All submissions must be original and unpublished work. Papers should be submitted in PDF format via the online submission portal.
Each author is allowed to submit only one paper as the presenting author.

Registration
There is no registration fee for the conference. However, registration is compulsary for all the conference participants.
On campus accommodation will be provided for all the presenters.
